BasisTrail

Loading your ledger

Preparing critical assets

Your portfolio,
reconciled to the cent.

One read-only ledger for your Interactive Brokers account and your crypto wallets, with fees, FX and gas included. Then AI explains what moved, citing your own numbers.

See it in action

30% off your first 3 months when billing opens, for everyone who joins before launch. No card now, and BasisTrail can never trade.

BasisTrail dashboard showing a $17,750.00 total portfolio value, a green $6,247.60 gain pill, and a How-it-moved performance chart with daily, weekly and monthly ranges.
100% read-only IBKR + Base in one view Every number traced to source Your keys stay yours
How it works

Three steps, about five minutes.

  1. 1

    Connect, read-only

Paste a public wallet address, or an IBKR Flex token you generate yourself. No password, no trading permission, nothing to sign.

  2. 2

    BasisTrail reconciles it

Trades, dividends, withholding, FX and gas are normalized into one USD ledger, and anything ambiguous gets flagged instead of smoothed over.

  3. 3

    Read what actually moved

See cost basis, real P&L and your spread against the S&P 500. Each morning, a brief explains the change and points at the numbers behind it.

AI that reads your book

Ask anything. Get an answer with the receipts.

A daily brief in your chosen tone, plus a chat that actually knows your positions. Every answer points to the exact part of your portfolio it used. No vague tips, no made-up numbers. Your broker tokens and wallet keys are never shared with the AI.

  • Answers you can trace back to your own data
  • Choose its voice: friendly, balanced, or deeply quantitative
  • Private by design: credentials stay on-device; de-identified portfolio facts reach cloud AI only after you enable it
AI chat answering what changed in the portfolio today, attributing the move to AAPL and BTC, with numbered citation chips for portfolio summary, AAPL holding and MSFT sale.
One ledger

Broker truth and on-chain activity, finally in one place.

Every IBKR trade, dividend, fee and FX conversion sits next to every Base transfer and gas cost, normalized to USD, with the gaps shown instead of smoothed over.

  • Net invested, realized & unrealized P&L
  • Cash, fees and gas broken out
  • Allocation, drift and sync quality
Performance card showing portfolio value against net invested, with growth of +$104.57 and contributions of $0.00 broken out separately so deposits are not mistaken for gains.
Benchmark

Know if you're actually beating the market.

Compare your real performance against the S&P 500 or Nasdaq-100, side by side. Returns are contribution-adjusted, so adding money never masquerades as growth. You see the spread that's genuinely yours.

  • Portfolio vs S&P 500 or Nasdaq-100
  • Deposit-adjusted returns, not inflated ones
  • Daily, weekly, and monthly windows
Performance chart comparing the portfolio against the S&P 500, showing +0.59% versus -0.26% with the outperformance spread highlighted.
Holdings tab totalling $21,000.00 across five assets and two accounts, with an allocation donut and AAPL, BTC, MSFT, USD and ETH positions sorted by value.

Holdings

An allocation donut with per-asset weights, and a position table you can sort by value, by P&L, or alphabetically, with cost basis and unrealized gains per asset.

Transactions ledger grouped by date, with color-coded rows for an IBKR withdrawal, an MSFT sell and an AAPL dividend, above a search field.

Transaction ledger

Date-grouped and colour-coded, with filters by source, type, direction and asset. Dividends, fees and withholding are typed, and anything ambiguous is flagged for review.

AI daily brief titled 'Steady week, one thing to watch' summarizing a 4.4% week-to-date gain led by AAPL and BTC, with bullet takeaways and an Ask anything button.

Daily brief

Each morning, a short read on what moved and why, in the tone you picked. It flags idle cash, FX drag and review items, and every figure comes from your own ledger.

Who builds this

One person, building in the open.

BasisTrail is built and run by a single developer, not a venture-funded team with a growth department. That is the whole reason it stays read-only: there is no plan to hold your funds, route your orders, or sell your data, because none of that is the business. You pay once a year, the app tracks your money, that is the arrangement.

I reached the finals of IMC Prosperity 4, IMC Trading's global algorithmic trading competition, which is where the standard for this app comes from. In that competition a rounding error in your accounting is a losing position, so BasisTrail treats fees, FX and gas as first-class numbers rather than details to hide in a total.

  • Read-only, structurally. An IBKR Flex token and public addresses cannot place a trade even if the app wanted to.
  • Your credentials never reach the AI. They are stripped before any model sees your data.
  • No invented numbers. Every figure traces back to a transaction you can open.
Pricing

$59 a year. $89 with the AI.

Yearly keeps the same product access and lowers the effective monthly price on every paid plan.

FAQ

Straight answers.

Questions about using BasisTrail as a read-only Interactive Brokers portfolio tracker, crypto wallet tracker, cost basis tracker, or iPhone investment tracker? Start here.

Do you ever see my IBKR password or wallet keys?

No. BasisTrail uses an IBKR Flex Web Service token (read-only, you generate it) and public crypto wallet addresses. It cannot trade, move funds, or sign anything.

Is BasisTrail an Interactive Brokers portfolio tracker for iPhone?

Yes. BasisTrail is a native iPhone portfolio tracker built for Interactive Brokers users who want a read-only view of holdings, transactions, cash, fees, FX, and performance without giving an app trading authority.

Can BasisTrail track crypto wallet transfers, token balances, and gas fees?

Yes. BasisTrail is designed to bring crypto wallet activity into the same ledger as brokerage data, including balances, transfers, and gas costs, so users can inspect brokerage and on-chain activity in one place.

Does BasisTrail track cost basis and realized or unrealized gains?

Yes. BasisTrail is built to help users inspect cost basis, realized gains, unrealized gains, fees, cash, and FX across Interactive Brokers and crypto wallet activity. It supports advanced lot methods on paid plans once billing opens.

Why use BasisTrail instead of a spreadsheet or generic portfolio tracker?

BasisTrail is read-only, traces numbers back to source, and explains what changed with source-cited AI. It is built for investors who want audit-grade portfolio visibility instead of manually stitching together spreadsheets or relying on generic dashboards.

Who is BasisTrail best for?

BasisTrail is best for investors who want a read-only portfolio tracker for Interactive Brokers and crypto wallets, especially when they care about accurate holdings, transactions, fees, FX, cost basis, and explainable changes across both brokerage and on-chain accounts.

Where do I manage my plan?

Billing will be managed on the web, in your account here, once purchases open. Sign in with Apple in the app and your plan will link automatically with no extra steps.

What's different between the plans?

Demo access is deliberately narrow: one source, seven days of history, and no AI. Core unlocks unlimited tracking, exports, and advanced lot methods without the AI layer. Pro AI adds the full AI toolkit, including daily briefs, chat, transaction explanations, and data-quality audits. Monthly and Yearly only change billing cadence, and both are still marked coming soon until the App Store launch is approved.

What are AI credits?

AI credits apply to paid plans only. They cover the daily brief, chat, transaction explanations, and data-quality audits. Heavier requests use more, lighter requests use less, and BasisTrail calculates that budget from real model usage so it stays fair and sustainable. Your balance resets every month.

Is the AI giving financial advice?

No. It explains your own data and flags issues, citing the exact sources. It never tells you to buy or sell, and your credentials are stripped before anything reaches the model.

Can I cancel?

Once billing opens, you’ll be able to cancel anytime from the billing portal and keep your data accessible on the Demo tier.
